I am sharing this training that is going to be a deep dive into neurology. We all have a neurological feedback system in our bodies.  I am going to get a little “sciencey” on you but I promise it will be all worth it.

The neurological feedback loop goes like this, if you think a thought, as your mind is registering that thought your body has already sent a corresponding emotion from the thought to your body. That emotion is essentially a bunch of hormones that are released into the bloodstream. This means that your body is not to be blamed for falling apart or causing you pain. It's simply the communication system that is happening within you based on the thoughts that are going on in your brain. The thoughts sent out, create emotions, which are hormones that are running through your body and affect every cell of your being. Your emotions are showing you where your awareness is, and where to focus to bring about change. So many of us spend a great deal of time focusing on the wrong area.

This is POWERFUL stuff, if you’re intrigued, come listen in on the rest of the episode to see what tips I give on this neurological feedback loop during postpartum.

In this episode, I’m sharing with you:

Feeling inspired and ready to learn more about how you can actively revolutionize postpartum care?

We all get it—postpartum and the years after having a baby is no walk in the park. But you know what? It isn't just about depression or anxiety either. Hey, my friend, I'm Maranda Bower, a homesteading mama with four wild kids whose life, passion, and education is all about supporting mothers and providers. I'm dedicated to understanding the science, the art, and the sacredness of healing after birth.

What we know as common sense in the postpartum years has many women feeling just plain awful. It's time to bring back the truth, get you the tools you need to heal, and thrive in motherhood and beyond. Hey, everyone. It's Maranda Bower with the Postpartum Circle, and I'm so glad to be sharing with you today's episode. This is actually a recorded training I did a bit ago, and I will tell you upfront, this is kind of intense. There are a lot of parts in this training that go pretty deep. If you want to take a dive with me into neurology and beyond, I am very happy to take you there.

This is an amazing training, and I'm only sharing part of this training with you here today. And it's one that I absolutely wanted to communicate with you because of several reasons. One, it breaks some old beliefs about thought patterns and emotions. The second part is it's so very applicable to the way we mothers experience motherhood. And although I don't speak on the unique way a mother's brain changes in postpartum, you will completely relate to this episode. Three, the other reason why I've created this is because I want to give you some really big hints on how you can take corrective action so that you can help regulate your hormones even more. This is powerful because I'm eliminating the belief that you are a slave to your hormones. That science is no longer valid.

So with that, let's dive deeper into the new upcoming science that is neurology and postpartum. I want to get into something that has been on my heart. I want to share this information with you, and it's a little sciency, but I promise I'm going to make it worth your while. So I want to tell you, I've been dropping truth bombs like crazy this week because so many of us need to hear how our bodies are functioning, how our thoughts are playing a role in this whole story of how we are living our life. And so I want to share with you this amazing topic of neurology, right?

The fact that you have a neurological feedback system in your body, and it is so freaking powerful. And let me tell you what this is because I know for a fact that this is not something that I understood in the least bit. So if you think a thought, I'm gonna dive right in here, as your mind is registering that thought, your body has already sent a corresponding emotion from the thought that you thought, okay? Which that emotion is essentially a bunch of hormones that are released into the bloodstream, okay?

So if you think a negative thought like, "man, my body sucks," or "why am I always having pain?" Or "I really want this, why don't I have any self-control?" Or "here she is crying again, I have no idea how to handle it," right? Like all the mom thoughts, the negative thoughts, okay? That sends a release of hormones in your body that will cause you discomfort and pain, okay? And it does so in the way of anger, frustration, rage, right, disgust, like we start thinking of all of these things, right? And we start feeling all of these feelings that feel really yucky and they get stored in our body, okay?

If we think positive thoughts, right? Like, "oh gosh, Maranda, that was so smart. I can't believe you thought of that," or "that was so amazing," or "look how creative you are," right? Just like general happy amazing warm thoughts. That helps open you up to an entirely new world where you're almost an observer of your thoughts. Where you can stand back and watch the emotions that come flooding in, these hormones and chemicals come flooding in, right? That is your bio feedback system.

Being in that state of mind allows you to have a better relationship with God, with spirituality, with your life purpose, and your mission, right? This means that your body is not to be blamed for falling apart or working or causing you pain. It's simply the communication system that is happening within you, right? Based on the thoughts that are going on in your brain, the thoughts send out and create emotions which are hormones that are running through your body and affect every cell of your being, okay? So, your emotions are showing you where your awareness is and where to focus to bring about change. Okay, freaking powerful. Your emotions are showing you what's not working in your life and what needs to be healed, and what needs to be released, and what needs to be changed?

Okay, the questions become: Are you listening to this? Are you making change, or are you simply reacting to the emotion that's coming up to you? You know, and the other question is, are you supporting your system so that it works better for you? Okay. So here's the thing.

If you're not giving your body what it needs and you feel like crap, if you physically feel like crap in your body, of course you're not going to have great thoughts, right? You have to give your body the tools that it needs to make the changes to help yourself. It's like a freaking spiral, right? I'm so passionate about this.

So let's dive into nutrition, okay? And food because if your emotions are not working for you, right? If you're not using them to help you, if you are reacting to your emotions, right? They're causing you anger and you become the angry person, you're reacting out because of it. Rather than stepping back and saying, "Oh, like that totally caused anger, like what's going on? What do I need to shift? What do I need to change? What do I need to heal? What do I need to release?" Right? If you don't give your body the tools it needs to be in that place where it can observe, you're always going to feel like crap.

And when we need moments of reassurance, when we need comfort, where do we go? Oftentimes we go to food, okay? That's one thing. Two, okay? And this is a really big deal, especially for women who've had a baby in the last couple of years. If you've had a baby in two, three, four years or even more recently than that, this applies to you significantly because your hormones are controlled by the nutrients that are in your body and the amount of sleep you get as well, okay?

So if you don't sleep, you can't create the hormones that you need to feel good. And if you don't have the food that you need and the nutrients in your body that you need, you can't create those either. So you might have amazing, awesome thoughts and you feel really good about yourself, right? But if you're not addressing the imbalance that's happening within your body and the deficiency, you end up feeling like crap and that immediately spirals your thoughts to play a part in that too. So now you're down and out, you feel like crap and you sleep worse. And when you sleep worse, you don't have the energy to cook your food. All of the components fall apart, right? Like everything seems that much more challenging, okay?

So I wanted to drop that truth bomb for you and really have you consider how your neurological feedback loop is working within your body. Are you listening to it? Are you reacting to it? Are you bringing your awareness into this? And are you giving your body the opportunities it needs to make change? Because if you're just sitting here thinking and like going through the motion, right? And you might say, okay, awesome. Like I'm gonna go make some changes or I'm gonna go journal and heal from this. Perfect, that's amazing. But if you're not addressing the roots of this and actually taking care of your body as the vessel it is meant to be, guess what? You're still gonna feel like crap and the road to healing is going to be even that much longer.

So this is what I do with my clients every single time. When you work with me, yeah, we're gonna get to the deep stuff. We're gonna get to the overwhelm. We're gonna get to the self-hate. We're gonna get to the feelings of anger and what triggers you. But we can't get there until you give your body what it needs to function, which is nutrients. That's why we always start at nutrients. That's why we always start with whole foods, right? And giving you high dense and nutrient foods that are easy for your body to digest and don't have to do a lot of extra work because you don't have the ability to do a lot of extra work, right? We want the easiest, simplest form possible so that you can move into a state of feeling better, so that you have the energy and you have the resources within you to deal with the difficult emotions and thoughts that come up, okay?

So many of us spend a great deal of time focusing on the wrong area. We focus on, "I'm going to have a greater year. And I'm going to do these and I'm going to think better thoughts. And I'm going to go to therapy and I'm going to really focus on getting more sleep," which is awesome. But if you have neglected the nutrients in your body, if you have neglected nourishing your body on that level, all of that stuff is going to fall apart. You have to address it simultaneously with this, okay?

I really, really hope this is making sense. Really, this is significant, okay? So I really want you to focus your awareness on this. I am thinking about running another masterclass and having like a free course on nutrition with regard to the years after childbirth. I was thinking about running something else and I'm kind of looking at all of my options. I'm not exactly sure where I want to go. If you have something that you want to hear from me, let me know. But I will be creating something for you in the meantime.

I love, love, love to talk with you about this, drop your thoughts. Let me know how this resonates with you. I want to hear from you, you know, creating those connective pieces and really engaging is what's going to make some changes for you as well. So let me know and I will tap with you later.
